Say Whaaaaaat?

It's amazing! I'M ALIVE!

Yes, dear readers, contrary to popular belief I am not hidden away in a bunker somewhere so Uhlissa can take over the blagh. No, no, the truth is much sadder - I am graduated, unemployed and sad. D:

But I HAVE been knitting a little! Mostly my attention is divided between:

- a present for a cute couple I know, half of which I worked with at the Tulane Regional Urban Design Center. Is this all an insidious plan to steal their adorable mini Dachshund? Maybe. I can say no more.
- a shrug that used to be my February Lady Sweater and is currently a Little Peacock Shrug (although my inability to read the pattern properly means I'll probably be frogging it to make something else soon).
- a Montego Bay scarf that I cast on and knit one pattern repeat of approximately... a month ago. I didn't even put it up on Ravelry, that's how much attention I've paid to it.
- An Amineko crocheted cat for my little cousin out of some yarn I've got hanging around. I have not worked on it for a month and a half. (Rav Pattern Link)

So clearly the blagh isn't the only thing suffering from my ADD. Job searching takes up a lot of my time too, as does all the crying and sitting in the fetal position. You know, busy times.

As if I didn't have enough to think about and do I've started hula hooping to loose weight. It's extremely fun, and if you listen to music time passes like you wouldn't believe. I just started yesterday and I am going to have bruises, let me tell you.

OK, off to look at patterns for the Noro sock yarn Uhlissa bought me for my birthday last year. Wheeeeeee!

Stitch For Senate

I believe, truly believe, that this is a worthwhile project. No matter where you fall on the matter of the war in Iraq, you can only support your position this way. Or at the very least express your position.

I think next time Uhlissa and I order from KnitPicks, I'll be picking up three skeins of Swish Superwash in Coast Grey and a 32" US 6 circ. That way, if Sherrod Brown (the Ohio Senator I'd like to send my helmet liner to) decides to send his to a soldier (as I hope he will), they don't have to worry about any special washing or something.

Please support our troops! They need all of our prayers/good thoughts/handmade knits to help them through.

KP Update

Firstly, I don't mean to scare anyone off of KnitPicks with my last post about my laziness and inability to check things before I send them. KP is still way affordable and the customer service lady emailed me back explaining that "pending" meant it was somewhere on a truck about to be shipped. Which it has, and the whole "Grovecity is the exact distance away from where I live in Ohio from Leetsdale, PA" situation is going down again. Hopefully Mum will get it soon and can send it to me.

So, of course, I'm wondering what to work on over Spring Break. Most likely I'll be giving Pomatomus a crack, as socks are easy-peasy to knit in the car.

Back to studying for my midterm tomorrow, I guess. D:

OK, I've had enough.

I am buying myself some Koigu PPM. Or is it PPPM? The point is, this sock yarn will be mine. I'm tired of reading review after review about how amazing it is, and how beautifully it knits up, and how socks will never be the same again after you use it.

IT WILL BE MINE.

Hopefully a trip to the LYS this Saturday will result in some. If not, where do you suggest I get some, internets? What online stores do YOU like to use?

Fun and Giggles.

That is the exact opposite of what my life has been like recently. Architecture studio leaves very little time for knittin', which is sad.

I've finished two out of three Mardi Gras Apple Hats, and may have to make slight corrections on the first one. We'll see. So photos of that soon, and photos also of my very first Fetching, which I finished back in November and forgot to photo, and hopefully Marilyn's Saints Fetching, if she has them on Friday, because I forgot to photo them as well. I am bad at photo-ing.

Of course now my attention turns to "What Do I Want to Knit When I'm Done With This?" which is a game I like to play in class. February is a month 'o birthdays, including our dear Uhlissa! I'm pretty sure I already know what I'm getting her. :D But it is sekkrit, and I cannot tell you here. But anyways, here's what I'm knitting soon (hopefully):

- Calorimetry for Mum (in red)
- Fetching with Stars for Anushka (orange and green)
- Lickety Split for myself (green and black)
- Thermal for myself (this'll most likely be a summer project)
- Dreamswatch for ME HAHAHAHA (I'm going to look for a fun yarn at the LYS)
- A camera case for my coming-soon-camera (any patterns anyone loves?)

OK, I think I've covered it all. I also need something to do with my Leprechaun from KnitPicks.... oh, the possibilities! Why isn't there enough time to do all this?!

deep sighs of regret, Ambrrr

Sock Madness!

I HAVE FINISHED ONE SOCK!! Hahaahaha! Ambrrr wins again!

So yeah, one sock of Monkey down, one more to go. I'm so mexcited about this, I've already picked out the pattern of my next sock: Lickety Split. And I'm definitely going for KnitPicks' Palette, which is dirt cheap and has a nice color wheel. I'm also thinking I'll boost the needle size on LS up to a US3, since I already knit a pretty tight gauge. Oh, the wonderful world of socks. Let's see how long I am enamored of you. :D

PS Uhlissa WHY DID YOU USE PATON'S SWS?! For shame! But Lordy your Caliometry looks nice. Also, I think you might have used Natural Geranium.

I may have lied.

My next official project (I have completed the paperwork and everything) is going to be ...... (drumroll).... Monkey, from the Winter '06 issue of Knitty!

I KNOW!! Not only is it a SOCK (fear!) but it is done on US No 2s (horrors!!)!!! What am I thinking?! And why am I using so many exclaimation marks?! !!!

I confess that Cookie herself had some part in this decision. Or rather, her picture. Look at her! She is tiny and adorable, and clearly having a lot of fun making that sock. SO I WILL TOO. I'm dyeing my hair blue too. Oh, that may have been another lie.

The Ravenclaw scarf just needs ends woven in. I'd post pictures, but I hate my camera. I think I might get a new one. Ooops, yet another lie. :D

Oh Lordy.

OK, so even though we have established that I have about 4 more repeats to do on this Ravenclaw scarf (photos soon, I promise!) and Marilyn's hardwarmers to finish (which I stupidly forgot in NOLA, and will have to finish like the second I get back), here are some patterns I want to try soon!

- Eunny's Endpaper Mitts (never mind that I am terrified of any needle under a 6, I'm convinced it'll take years to finish it)
- Caliometry from Knitty (what in the name of Buddha is a short row?! Hopefully this will help me out.)
- Queen of All Cosmos earmuffs!

OK, that's enough nonsense from me for now.
